Marlborough Cottage enjoys a commanding view of the mouth of the River Tweed and Berwick Bay, on the south side of the river in Spittal village.   It is within yards of the promenade and beach, and a few minutes drive or a leisurely walk from Berwick town centre.

It is the architect-designed conversion of what was originally the housekeeper’s rooms attached to Marlborough House – an early Victorian townhouse - with a lounge extension added to take advantage of the stunning views;  it incorporates the latest levels of insulation and energy conservation requirements, and has been fitted out and furnished to a demanding standard.

There are two double bedrooms, both equipped with wall-hung LCD TV’s, a large shower-room with a double-size cubicle, a fully-fitted walk-through kitchen incorporating a washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, built-in oven and halogen hob unit and microwave oven, leading to the lounge/diningroom which has a six-place dining suite, leather double sofabed, two leather easy chairs with footstools and a 32” flat-screen TV and DVD player.

Freshly-laundered bedding and towels (excluding beach towels) are provided, electricity and gas central-heating are included in the rental, subject to fair usage; for rentals longer than one week, a bedding and towel change are available each Saturday, together with a cottage ‘freshen-up’.

The cottage is laid out on one level and has ramped access, off-road parking is provided on our own land adjacent to the cottage. There is a large garden at the front of the house which guests are welcome to use to relax in. There is a convenience store ( Laidlaw’s) in the village where most basic needs will be met, plus rolls and pies baked on the premises, newspapers and a selection of magazines.  There are a filling station and Co-op superstore in Tweedmouth and a street market in the town centre on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The local town bus service stops immediately outside on the Main Street, and if you are arriving by train or coach we will be happy to offer a pick-up service from the station: there are a number of local taxi operators covering the area into the late evening/early hours of the morning – booking is advisable, especially at weekends.

Marlborough Cottage will sleep four adults, with the further option of the double sofabed in the lounge, and is available to rent on a weekly basis Saturday to Saturday throughout the year (other start/finish days may be considered);  midweek and weekend breaks are also available by arrangement.

Marlborough Cottage is fully non-smoking and pets are not accepted.
